January has come and gone and now February is here. February is most known for being Black History Month, but it is also known for being the “Oh crap I haven’t actually stuck to any of my New Year resolutions” month. It is also the month where the sad, sad reality sets in that football is gone and won’t be back until fall. For fun, and accountability, I figured I would take a look at how I am doing on my goals.
Stop hitting the snooze button
Not doing so well on this one. I’ve done this maybe once or twice. Now there have been a few days where I haven’t set an alarm because I didn’t need to or I was getting up with Angela and she set it, but still working on this one. And by working on, I really mean trying to start. This is a tough habit to break. I am also not a morning person so that doesn’t really help. I have trained myself to be able to hit the snooze button without really becoming conscious of it.
Have a quiet time daily
Even though I haven’t met my goal of getting up earlier, I have done better at this goal. I haven’t had a quiet time every day, but I am having them more often than I was. Angela and I are doing some things in February to help us get to this goal, so next month I should have an even better report.
Post on my blog at least once a week
January was 4.5 weeks long and I posted 2 blogs. Not even close on this goal. That is frustrating and embarrassing. I am starting February stronger since this is my second post in the first week. I’ve also filled out my yearly calendar and put my goals on there. I bought highlighters so that I can color in the dates based on whether I met my goal or not. Blue will mean I met my goal. Orange will mean I did not. I am hoping that this visual aid that will be hanging in my house will help motivate me to be able to color more squares blue.
Read one book a month
I have read about half of Quitter by Jon Acuff. So I am clearly behind on this goal. I plan to finish Quitter in February as well as read another book. Angela and I are reading a book together this month, so that should help me get caught up on this goal. I already have my March book picked out as well.
Reach my goal weight
This is one goal I am actually heading in the right direction with. I am not at my goal weight, but I am closer than I was at the beginning of January. I still need to get in a better workout routine. I am officially signed up for the Hilton Head Triathlon and I need to start training for that.
As you can see, January wasn’t the strongest start for me, but I am not giving up. I am even more determined to make February better and propel me into an awesome March (which will be made even awesomer when Zeke gets here). When I report out next month, I plan on being able to say I am hitting my goals. It’s not as much fun typing about how terrible I did in January and I plan on changing that.
until next time…
