Yesterday I started off my Mother’s Day strong. I got both kids out of bed and let Angela sleep in. Zeke and I handmade a card for her. I asked Zeke what he wanted it to say and he started with “I love you.” That’s a great start to a Mother’s Day card. Then when I asked if there was anything else he said, “I jump jump jump and bounce bounce bounce.” That didn’t make the cut. I went with a haiku instead. Saturday night, when I told Zeke we were going to do something special for Mom in the morning, he yelled, “MAKE PANCAKES!!!” I’m not going to crush my kid’s dreams, so we made pancakes. While I made the pancakes, Zeke made Angela a gift basket. It included a fake piece of pizza, a Thomas book, 2 pairs of socks, and the backing to some stickers he used the other day. Recently at Charisma Church we started playing Matt Redman’s song King of My Soul. It’s a really fun song and I enjoy it. If you haven’t heard it before check out the video below. I really like the bridge. It has one of those fun sing/yell feels. It has been in the rotation for a few months but something really grabbed my heart this past Sunday. There is one simple line in the song that I had mindlessly singing that hit me hard. “So let my life be undivided God.” Continue Reading→
A little over two weeks ago, Addilyn Grace Spindler was born. She is doing great and I’ve already created a boyfriend application. Angela had a C-section and I was in the operating room with her. The moment Addie was born the doctor asked if I wanted to look over the curtain and take a picture. No, nope, not a chance. But I knew Angela would really want the picture (because she likes gross stuff like that and is a Grey’s Anatomy freak) so I sucked it up and took a peek over the curtain.
I’m not a big gamer, but one of my favorite video games is Super Mario World. There are still times I will bring out my Super Nintendo and play that game. Even though I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve completed the game, I still enjoy the levels. All of them except for one. Tubular in Special World still makes me cringe just thinking about it. I still have nightmares of the first time I came across this level. I think I died over 100 times trying to beat it. I got so mad I had to turn off the game and go do something else for a while (and this happened a couple of times). It got to the point where I debated just quitting on the level. Since it’s in Special Word, I didn’t need to beat it to beat the game. But I am too stubborn for that. So I tried over and over. Each lost life made me feel more and more defeated. Continue Reading→
I don’t know anyone who actually sits quietly in a theater during the previews. Recently, as my friends and I were at a movie, we were talking about what we thought of the previewed movie. We spent some time making fun of the cheesy movie theatre rules videos. Then as the production logos started to come on the screen (still before the movie had started) the guy in front of us turned around and said, “You guys need to stop talking, the movie is on!!!” At that moment a million things ran through my head of what I should say back to him. I could tell him that his yelling at us was louder than us talking. Continue Reading→
