Here we are again. I can’t believe it is already Christmas. With that it’s time for the yearly update (that will probably not bring much new news thanks to social media). We moved in March, and our tree’s location at our new house did not allow us to continue our “Christmas card pose.” We did move the couch and attempt to get it, but couldn’t get the camera angle for it because of the island in our kitchen. So here is the new look for 2018:
As I mentioned, we moved to Clayton (only about 15 minutes from where we were in Raleigh). We absolutely love our new house and neighborhood. It has been a blessing to our family in so many ways. This fall we launched a House Church meeting at our house on Sunday mornings at 8:30 (get more info on House Church here).
Addilyn is approaching her second birthday and is growing fast. Her vocabulary has taken off and every day Angela and I are asking, “Have you heard her say that before?” She is officially out of her crib and in her “big girl bed.” This transition happened when we watch her climb into her crib. She is in the process of being potty trained (which really mean she likes to use a toilet and if she happens to tell us we will take her). She is turning into a little lady and Angela is a little sad that we don’t have any kids in the baby stage anymore.
It is hard to comprehend how big Zeke is. I keep picturing him as our little baby boy, but he is not that anymore. It is hard to believe he is almost four years old. He is over night potty trained and has been out of diapers for most of the year. He is in his second year of preschool and glad to be in a class with “lots of ladies” (his words because there was only one girl in his class last year). He loves having a pool in our neighborhood and this summer starting working on swimming without his floaties.
Angela is still staying at home and still nannying three days a week. As if that wasn’t enough, this year she also starting leading Preschool Praise, a preschool aged Biblically based story time, from our house once a week. She also picked up woodworking and has been busy this Christmas season making projects for people. In 2019, she will be launching a web store to sell her projects.
I am in my third year as the Director of Operations at Community of Hope Ministries. It has been a great year that is ending with us adding a walk-in cooler/freezer to our food pantry. This past fall, I had the incredible opportunity to spend a week ministering in Norway and Sweden (if you didn’t see my posts about that trip you should check them out). I’ve still been blogging (obviously) and am planning to launch a podcast in early 2019.
2018 has been a fun year with lots of new experiences. God has challenged us to examine many things and pushed us to grow in many areas of our lives. We aren’t there yet, but it is really cool to see where God has brought us. Our family is growing up and it is fun to watch. We are excited to see what 2019 will bring. We wish you and your family a merry Christmas!
until next time…
