A couple of weeks ago Lecrae released a new album Anomaly. In my life I have been challenged by books I have read. I have been challenged by speakers I have heard. I’ve been challenged by people in my life. With Lecrae’s album Anomaly I can now say I have been challenge by an album. One listen through the Anomaly and you will notice that Lecrae put it all out there on the album. His lyrics are so raw, transparent and honest. He holds nothing back and speaks his mind. It is refreshing and challenging at the same time. I can’t be the only one who thinks so because Anomaly hit #1 on the Billboard 200.
Anomaly challenges me personally as a writer. What kind of content am I putting on my blog? Am I being transparent and honest? In some of the posts, I might be. In some of them, I’m not. I have never been challenged by listening to an album before, but it is causing me to rethink the concept of writing a blog post. If I am not willing to be transparent and honest, then what is the point of writing?
There is something scary about opening yourself up. I worry about how it will be received. If the point of a blog is to get people to read it, what if they take it the wrong way? In his song Fear, Lecrae says, “Everybody always, they gone have something to say. Whether you like it or not… don’t take it to heart.” That can change your perspective.
This past couple of weeks has put a lot of things in perspective for me. Getting in a high-speed wreck can do that. With this post I plan on starting a new era at this blog. I plan be more open, transparent and honest in my writing. Lecrae has challenged me, and now I challenge you. Let’s start being real with each other. Think I’m just being dramatic? I’ll say it just like Lecrae:
Say I won’t.
until next time…

No problem! I am a huge music person. I constantly have it on no matter where I am or what I am doing. Nice review by the way. I can agree with you about not being the biggest fan of the Church Clothes releases.
