A few nights ago, at 1:30am, Angela and I woke up to Zeke screaming, “MOMMY!!!!!!” As a parent, you know the difference between a cry that needs immediate attention and one that doesn’t. Knowing something was wrong, Angela jumped out of bed to check on him. Zeke had a fever and his breathing was very raspy. Having been through this before, we knew we were probably dealing with croup. We headed to the emergency room and got him the medicine he needed. Within minutes of taking the medicine, he was doing much better. [Read more…] about Cry Out To God

The Comfort of Being Uncomfortable
I’ve been working through the T25 Beachbody plan, and today’s workout is called Total Body Circuit. I hate that workout. I’ve been dreading it all day and no part of me wanted to hit play and get started. But I did. At no point during the workout was I comfortable. I strategically place myself so that I am not directly in front of the TV or I would just focus on how much time was left in the workout. I would have been much more comfortable sitting on my couch enjoying Netflix and chill. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t get me any closer to my goal, but rather would push me further away from it. A Kind Word
A few months ago, the DMV decided to mark my driver’s license as inactive. The DMV didn’t notify me that it happened. I found out by getting a letter from my insurance company saying they were going to cancel my plan because my license was inactive. I called them to find out what they knew about it, and I was told to check with the DMV. Naturally, I was thrilled upon hearing that I needed to go to the DMV to clear it up. A New Take On Church
I was reading an article yesterday about the current state of the church in America. You can check it out here. In it John Burton says, “The foundational pursuit of revival has nothing to do with church growth or the lost. It has everything to do with the church awakening, contending in intercession and attracting the fire of the Holy Spirit.”
Now don’t take that quote the wrong way. It is not saying that church growth or ministering to the lost are bad things. It is just saying that shouldn’t be the focus of the church. It is simply saying that when we focus on seeking the Holy Spirit, all the other stuff will follow. [Read more…] about A New Take On Church
Becoming the Driver I Hate
On Sunday, while driving to church, my check engine light started flashing. The manual recommended not driving the car over 31mph (not sure why they didn’t just go with 30 but I’ll take the extra 1mph) and taking the car straight to a shop. I turned around, went home, and arranged my schedule so I could take the car in on my way to work Monday morning. [Read more…] about Becoming the Driver I Hate
The Little Things
A few weeks ago, a friend was telling me about her hummingbird feeder. She loves having hummingbirds around, so she bought a feeder to attract them. A couple of weeks went by and she didn’t see any hummingbirds come to the feeder. Frustrated, she figured it was something about the feeder so she bought a new one. Even after swapping out the feeders, she still didn’t see any hummingbirds at it. While she was sitting on her back porch one day, she decided to pray and ask God to send a hummingbird. As soon as she finished her prayer one flew up to the feeder and she has seen many more since. [Read more…] about The Little Things
