How Did We Get Here?

October 25, 2016

The Presidential election is coming up in just a few weeks.  Please don’t click off now, I promise this is not a political post (I’m just as sick as you about all the garbage we have to listen to).  Over the past few months I’ve had lots of conversations that included the question, “How did we get here?”  There are many different views of the current state of the USA.  Add that I live in North Carolina and it just makes this past year even more fun.  There are many views of how we got to where we currently are.  I’m not here to offer my opinion on all of that, but there have been plenty of times in my life where I have wondered, “How did I get here?” [Read more…] about How Did We Get Here?

Resetting Priorities

October 12, 2016

Football is my favorite sport.  I can watch any game of football regardless of who is playing.  I also used to be very involved in fantasy football.  So much so that I have even written blog posts about my frustrations with it.  I’ve paid for apps to help me in my draft.  I would spend time each week evaluating players and trying to make roster decisions.  I was never great at it (although securing a first round bye last year in my fantasy league ended up costing me the championship but that’s another story for another time), but I enjoyed it.  But this year I decided I was not going to play in any leagues except my family league. See You In A Month

September 10, 2016

I haven’t been posting regularly on my blog for a little while now.  I’ve done a lot of thinking about what to do with my blog, what my goal is, and how to proceed.  The conclusion that I have reached is I’m not sure.  So I have decided to take a month away from it all.  I’m going to take that time and really pray and think about the direction I want this blog to head.  I’m also going to take the time away from Facebook Live and Periscope.  Instead, I’ll spend the time seeking God and seeking what He wants me to do. Misery Or Memories

August 15, 2016

I love going on mission trips, but by the end I am usually ready to come home.  This was definitely the case when I was in Nicaragua.  The trip was amazing, but I was ready to see Angela and Zeke.  Due to our schedule, we arrived at the airport in Managua around midnight and spent the night in the airport.  Our flight from Managua was delayed which caused us to be rerouted and scheduled to arrive home six hours later than planned.  We made it to Miami and when it was time for us to board our plane, there wasn’t even one pulled into the gate.  That’s a fun way to find out your flight is delayed (thanks American Airlines!).  We only had a 50 minute layover in Philly, so there was no way they were holding our connecting flight for us.  I checked the flight schedules and that was the last flight out for the night. Love Isn’t Passive

July 18, 2016

It’s been just over a week since I wrote my last post and there are already more tragedies to add to the list.  It seems like there is starting to be a collective “what in the world is going on” going around.  Anger is being answered with anger. Violence is being answered with violence.  What is the world coming to?  It’s getting to the point where I worry that the next time I open Facebook or Twitter I will find out about another tragic event.  As I read about all these events, I wonder what it is that I can do to help.  Honestly, I don’t really have an answer. Land Of The Free?

July 8, 2016

America celebrated Independence Day this past Monday.  People celebrated their freedom by eating hot dogs, drinking beer, and shooting off fireworks.  ‘Murica!  In the days that followed news continues to pour out that makes me sick to my stomach.  It has left such a stirring in my heart that I feel I can’t ignore it.  Before I go any further I will say I am extremely thankful for those in the military who risk their lives for the freedom that I enjoy.  I also have multiple family members, including my brother, in the police force and appreciate what cops do to protect this country.  But what in the world is happening in America?  How do we celebrate freedom one day and then have a series of events unfold that show the exact opposite?
