If there is one thing people know how to do in December it is to party. There is no shortage of Christmas parties for one to attend. Everyone is picking out their ugly sweaters and figuring out how to make it as tacky as possible. This week I am attending 4 parties (one of which I am hosting). Being a social person, I love attending Christmas parties. I also love to eat. I am also now in week 7 of the T25 workout program and on the road to being at my goal weight for this first time in years. This means the month of December turns into a war for me. First Christmas As A Family
This will be Zeke’s first Christmas and Angela and I are super excited for it. We have all our decorations up and this year I even added some lights on the bushes in front of our house. I’m running full speed into the #oldmanstyle life (I’m already planning how I can hang some on the house next year). As my dad and I talked about what he was getting Zeke, he reminded me that my years of “building and putting toys together on Christmas Eve after the kids go to sleep” have officially begun. Angela and I are excited about continuing some of our traditions and starting some new ones. Sure Zeke won’t really understand it all yet, but it will still be fun. On The Road Again: Rental Car Style
I’ve had my flight to Chicago booked for a few weeks. That took no time at all. I pulled up expedia.com, put in when and where I wanted to fly and was able to find a cheap ticket. Then came the fun ordeal of figuring out how I would get from the airport to the venue. The venue is a few hours away and when I first looked at rental car prices they were more expensive than my plane ticket. Also there are no rental car places in Kewanee, IL so I wouldn’t be able to drop off the car in the town I am going to. I was too far from the venue for them to send someone to come get me and the airport wasn’t on route for the tour bus. So I began the tedious process of checking all my options to see how I could get there. [Read more…] about On The Road Again: Rental Car Style
On The Road Again: North11 Style
Saturday, I will fly out to Chicago to play bass for North11 in a couple of shows on the One Life Tour. The opening band was not able to play the last couple of dates and we were asked to come fill in for them. We will be sharing the stage with Disciple, KJ-52, and Loftland and we are pretty excited about it. It is going to be a jam-packed weekend but it is going to be a ton of fun. I leave Raleigh at 7:00am and it will be pretty much non-stop until I get home Monday evening (I’m still trying to figure out how to get from O’Hare to Kewanee, IL so if you can offer any help let me know!). My Issue With The Starbucks Cup
All this ruckus over a red cup has me thinking. It’s a little sad that one red cup can cause so much controversy. I’ll be getting my coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts. But that isn’t because of a red cup. It’s because they have better coffee. Boom. I just said that (and I meant it). My real issue with the red cup isn’t that it gave up the snowflakes and reindeer. It’s that we are skipping over Thanksgiving and going straight to Christmas. [Read more…] about My Issue With The Starbucks Cup
Ezekiel: Living Up To The Name
The month before Zeke was born I decided to read the book of Ezekiel. I figured it would be a fun thing to do since he would share the name. I’d love to act all super-spiritual (actually I wouldn’t, I’ll leave that to the Starbucks holiday cup people) but we did not name him after the book of the Bible. Angela and I liked the way Ezekiel sounded and really liked the meaning (God strengthens). As I was reading through Ezekiel it started to get me down. The book of Ezekiel has a lot of doom and gloom, turn or burn, be sanctified or french fried kind of stuff in it. I started to think maybe it was a bad idea for me to read through it before he was born. It wasn’t really getting me excited like I thought it would. [Read more…] about Ezekiel: Living Up To The Name
