The Struggle Is Real

July 15, 2015

We all get the same 24 hours in a day.  Sometimes I wish I had just a few more.  I know I am not the only one who feels like they don’t have enough time.  Life is so crazy that it hit me last week that the triathlon I signed up for is this Saturday.  I know I said after my last one I was going to make sure I was prepared for this one.  That didn’t actually happen.  I’ve worked out some, but nowhere near enough to adequately prepare for this race.  My calendar I have hanging on my wall is seeing a lot more days filled in orange (how I marked missed goals) than blue (how I mark made goals).  There are lots of things that I’ve needed to do that I haven’t got to. God is in Control

July 5, 2015

God is in control is such a simple phrase to say but a hard one to live by.  It is so easy to tell someone else, but so hard to hear yourself.  I’m a problem solver.  Whenever I see an issue arise, I always have some way to fix it.  This can be great in certain situations, but is terrible in others.  I am awful at telling the difference.  When the storms of life come I want to jump up and start fixing all the leaks in the boat.  Patience is not my strong suit.  Biting my tongue does not come easily.  Sure, I’ve heard Matthew 6:33 a million times (Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need) but it doesn’t make it any easier. Picture of the Week – Father’s Day Edition (6/21/15)

June 21, 2015

Today I am celebrating my first Father’s Day as a father.  It’s crazy to think my little man is almost 3 months old.  Before he was born, I would tell people I was excited about being a dad but wasn’t thrilled about going through the newborn stage.  I figured I would like it more when he got to the point he could interact and understand more.  Now that I’m almost 3 months in, I’ve learned I don’t mind the newborn stage as much as I thought.  Watching him figure things out and develop his personality is fascinating.  When he looks at me and smiles it is one of the greatest things in the world. Waiting For Time

June 16, 2015

I have a confession to make.  There is something I am really bad at.  Something I let get in the way time and time again.  I am really bad about waiting for time.  I’ll wait until I have time to write a blog post.  I’ll wait until I have time to get to the gym.  I’ll wait until I have time to work on my ebook.  I’ll wait until I have time to call that person I know I need to call.  More often than not, I don’t find the time.  I won’t get around to doing the things I know I should be doing.  And I lie to myself and say, “Well next week I’ll have the time.”  The next week comes and goes and I still haven’t done those things. Learning to Swim

June 4, 2015

I have completed three triathlons and am now signed up for a fourth.  So far in all of my races my swim leg has been the worst part.  Knowing this, I have intentionally spent more time in the pool trying to improve.  Last week I did something I never thought I would.  I took a swim lesson.  Obviously I know how to swim well enough to not drown, but I have never had someone coach me on my form (other than my pal Josh teaching me some pointers from YouTube videos he watched).  Taking a swim lesson was a humbling experience.  I’m always a little self-conscious when I swim at the gym, but have someone who was being paid to watch and critique me raised that level. Picture of the Week – 6/1/15

June 1, 2015

Two months are officially in the books.  It is crazy to believe that.  Things that seemed brand new a couple of months ago are now just routine.  Zeke officially weighed in at 13 pounds 1 ounce and stood 24.25 inches tall at his check-up, so he is still letting all the 6 month old kids out there know he can run with them.  He is developing quite a personality and starting to make noises other than screams and cries (which is quite refreshing).  If you have paid attention to Angela or my social media, you know he has a smile that will stop the ladies dead in their tracks.  [Read more…] about Picture of the Week – 6/1/15
