A Little Out of the Ordinary

September 11, 2012

Nick and Angela

In just over four days, I will be a married man.  I’ve known this day was coming for a while now (shocking I know), but this week it has become real to me.  Not a scared or nervous real, but just real.  Planning a wedding is an interesting process.  A special thanks to Google and TheKnot.com for helping us do it without a wedding planner haha.  It has had its ups and downs, but there has been one thing we have heard a lot throughout the process.  There has been a phrase that has been said many times by many people, “It’s not my wedding…” [Read more…] about A Little Out of the Ordinary

Introduce a Little Anarchy

September 7, 2012

The Joker

Yesterday afternoon at after school we got caught in the middle of a big thunderstorm.  As if having a big storm with loud thunder wasn’t creating enough chaos for kindergarteners on their first week of after school, the roof in the cafeteria started leaking.  And by leaking I actually mean pouring.  I have never seen a ceiling leak so bad, it was leaking as fast and heavy as the rain was falling outside.  So there we were caught in the middle trying to calm down 50 kids and keep everything organized in the small cafeteria. Striving For Perfection

August 30, 2012

shattered pottery

Over the past month I have done a lot of soul searching.  I have had many conversations with God about where exactly I am heading.  A lot of it has led me to one conclusion; I am broken.  I am busted up and falling apart and in need of some help.  Last week I was reading something and someone made an interesting claim.  They claimed to be perfect.  They said because they had accepted Jesus they had become perfect.  Even more than that, they made the claim many times.  It wasn’t just a wording mistake, they really believed it. The Rain Will Come

August 25, 2012

Rain

As of today, it is exactly three weeks until I am going to be married.   A lot of people have been asking me if I am excited.  My answer is that it is one of the only bright spots in the current storm.  I haven’t made a public statement, but if you pay attention on Facebook you may have noticed Trinity Academy is no longer listed as my employer.  Due to budget cuts, I was let go as of last Wednesday.  So exactly one month before I get married, I lose my job. A Life Changing Conversation

August 14, 2012

Amos, Derek, and I

If you were wondering why I haven’t written any blogs recently, it is because I just spent two weeks in Brazil.  The mission trip was really tough and challenging but really rewarding.  Out of all the countries I’ve been to, Brazil was the toughest in which to minister.  The people there had really closed hearts and there was a huge sense of pride.  However, God is still God and He can do anything.  We still saw lots of people give their life to Jesus and saw God do lots of other cool things. Just A Normal Day At Camp

July 11, 2012

IMG_2034

Today when I got to work I had a lot of things on my mind.  We are really short staffed this week and it has been hectic.  At some point during the day I was supposed to get a call from a mom who had some concerns.  It was starting to rain and weather reports were saying it would stay that way all day, so I had to start coming up with a plan for what to do if that happened.  It wasn’t shaping up to be an ideal morning.
