If there is one thing I have learned during my years in ministry it is this: it is always my fault. If a service isn’t good enough, it is my fault. If a special event isn’t good enough, it is my fault. If people aren’t serving God like they should, it is my fault. If someone leaves the church, it is my fault. If a guest feels unwelcome, it is my fault. [Read more…] about My Problem With Church

One down, eleven to go
This past weekend I ran in the Krispy Kreme Challenge for the fourth year in a row. For those of you who don’t know what the KKC is, let me fill you in. You start at the bell tower at NC State and run to Krispy Kreme. Then you eat twelve glazed donuts and run back to the bell tower. The goal is to do all of this in under an hour. The past three years the total distance has been four miles (two there and two back), but this year they increased it to five miles total. [Read more…] about One down, eleven to go
Crossing the tracks
There is something I see happen almost every day that always seems to baffle me. The way I drive home I cross over railroad tracks that are right before a stop sign. Soco Amaretto Lime
So I’ve sat here for a few minutes and stared at the computer screen trying to figure out what I’m going to write this blog about. I am trying to write more often, but right now I am not really sure about what. I could do another Christmas blog, I could write about my job because I haven’t done much of that, I could write about a lot of other things but right now I’m not really feeling it. The Elephant in the Room
Growing up my extended family would always get together at my grandparent’s house on Christmas Eve. We would spend all day together eating lots of food (apparently my grandma thought we starved the other 364 days of the year), play games, and enjoy each others company. There was always the routine visit from Santa (who has really slimmed down and got some face lifts in recent years). [Read more…] about The Elephant in the Room
