When you do a read through the Bible in a year plan, Deuteronomy is another one of those books that can be easy to breeze through. The children of Israel are preparing to enter the promised land, but before they do Moses gives them a history lesson. He recounts the story of what they have gone through in the wilderness. As I read it, all I could think was, I just read this and I don’t need the recap. It is still fresh on my mind. But this year I am trying better to not just speed through stuff like that, so I began to think about why Moses was doing this. [Read more…] about Remember The Past

Searching For Joy
Last week I was driving home from work and sitting at a red light. Based on the number of cars in front of me, I knew it was going to be a close call for me to make it through the next light cycle. The light turned green and the cars started to go, except for the one right in front of me. They were either texting, or checking Facebook, or taking a selfie, but they weren’t paying attention to the stop light. Finally they started to go, but they weren’t in any rush. 2016 has been one crazy ride. There is just over a week left so who knows what else will happen. It’s hard to believe it is already Christmas. In the spirit of saving postage (take that USPS) and keeping up with the times, here is the 3rd annual Spindler Christmas card. [Read more…] about 2016 Christmas Card
Learning To Listen
A few years ago, when I was off from work, I was up in my room checking my email when someone knocked at our door. I wasn’t expecting anyone so I was not really looking forward to who it could be. My thoughts were that it was either my landlord, a Mormon, or a Jehovah’s witness. I open the door to a guy about my age standing there. Now I was really confused because I had no idea who he was. Here is how our conversation went [Read more…] about Learning To Listen
