About a year ago, I heard from God during a worship service at Charisma Church. It was about something I had wrestled with for a while and it was great to get some clarity. The plan was to write an e-book about it. I immediately started planning how I would accomplish this. I went out and bought colored index cards to start brainstorming an outline. This was a huge step for me because I never outlined any papers when I was in school. I hated outlines. I just sat down and wrote and usually got a good grade. Despite every professor telling me otherwise, my method seemed to work. [Read more…] about I Missed The Mark
Life
Three Years And Counting (Part 3)
Marriage is no easy task, but it is incredibly awesome. To know that you have someone with you through thick and thin, someone that always has your back, someone that loves you no matter what, is an incredible thing. 3 years ago, Angela and I set out on this journey and it has been quite a ride. We weren’t sure everywhere that God would take us, but we were excited to find out. Even in just 3 short years, God has blown our minds with the things He has done in our lives. Three Years And Counting (Part 2)
September 15, 2012 is the day that Angela and I decided to take our vows and commit to live our lives as one. It is a day we will never forget, and we wanted it to be also be memorable for those who joined us. Not because we are awesome, but because we wanted it to be something they thoroughly enjoyed. A wedding should be a happy occasion. It is something that everyone should remember as a good time, not just the bride and groom. It was a celebration and we wanted people to celebrate. If people were going to travel from all over to spend this day with us, we wanted them to get their money’s worth. [Read more…] about Three Years And Counting (Part 2)
Three Years And Counting (Part 1)
A couple of months ago, I spoke at a youth group Lock-in at Westwood Baptist Church. When I was there I was talking to a few people about how the last time I was on the stage there, it was at my wedding. After the service, I was talking to some people about the wedding and they were telling me that they still remember how much fun it was. When Angela and I planned our wedding we had one goal. We wanted our wedding to be fun. We wanted it to be a celebration. We had both been to weddings where you were longing for the bride and groom to cut the cake so that you could leave. We were determined to not have our wedding be that way. [Read more…] about Three Years And Counting (Part 1)
Work Backwards
Last week some of the students in my class were talking about how they were looking forward to 6th grade. Fifthgraditis has apparently set in just 5 weeks into the school year. I kindly reminded them that they may want to focus on getting through 5th grade first. I found it funny yet so many times I find myself doing something similar. I focus on where I want to be and don’t actually think about where I am. Sure it is great to have goals and dreams, and I am really good at that part. But we also need to take a look a where we are at. It is pretty hard to get to the goal if you don’t know where you are starting. [Read more…] about Work Backwards
My Fear Of Periscope
You may or may not be aware, but this app called Periscope is taking the world by storm. As I predicted, it crushed Meerkat (an app that is similar to it). Periscope is an app that lets you live stream whatever you are doing. You press go and it turns on your camera and starts broadcasting whatever you are shooting. People can watch and comment live. Knowing I am working on getting into the public speaking world, I immediately created an account and planned on being an early adopter. I downloaded the app while I was in the hospital when Zeke was born. Since then I have done about 3 broadcasts. So much for using it and really jumping in and being an early adopter (although I did have an account and did predict it would blow up so maybe that counts). [Read more…] about My Fear Of Periscope
