There is a lot of brokenness in our society right now (understatement of the year I know). There are a lot of hurting people for many reasons and many people looking for answers. One thing it brought to my mind is the Footprint in the Sand poem. If you are unfamiliar with it, it is about a person walking on the beach and reflecting on their life. They see that God walked with them and there were two sets of footprints but noticed that during the tough times there was only one set of footprints in the sand. They ask God why He left them during that time and he answers that at those times he was carrying them. You can read the poem HERE.

Peace in the Panic
This post is a semi-guest post by Angela. I’m stealing something she put on Facebook because I don’t think I could say it any better. There is so much negativity going around right now (from every side). The elections were getting heated and then coronavirus stepped in to ramp it up a few notches. After seeing all of this take place for weeks, Angela felt led to post something in a mom’s group she is a part of on Facebook. It was in response to a lot that she was seeing related to the coronavirus (and I am posting it exactly as she wrote it).

Recently, there seems to be a recurring theme in what I am hearing from God. The places it is coming from are not connected at all, so it has caught my attention. A couple of months ago, I discovered the song “Maybe It’s OK,” by We Are Messengers. In the chorus, they sing, “Maybe it’s ok if I’m not ok, cause the one who holds the world is holding onto me.” I’ve really identified with the theme of being dirty and broken and knowing that it was OK. I’m not justifying sin here, just saying that even in the midst of that, God is still right there (see my last blog post for more on that).

My last couple of posts haven’t been the most uplifting, joy-inspiring posts. As I explained in those posts, life has hit my family hard and we are still in the middle of it. The events of the past few months have caused me to really examine what I believe about God and why I believe it. One thing it has really caused me to examine is how I verabilze those beliefs. After a conversation with a friend, my eyes were opened to some interesting things I say.

If you haven’t read my previous post (Waiting For Test Results), I’d highly recommend going and reading that before this one. This post may not make much sense without the context of that one. For those looking for updates on Angela, it depends on the day. Some days are good, some are not. We are currently trying to get some medicine adjusted to see if that helps. To add some fun to our life, Addie fractured one of her toes last week.

I haven’t posted much in the past month. It wasn’t just because of the business of the Christmas season. Life hit hard around Thanksgiving and it’s been a process recovering. I made a decision long ago that I was going to be real on my blog. I don’t want to just post “good Christian thoughts” just to post them. I want it to be real and transparent and give an accurate picture of the journey I am on. I haven’t quite known how to articulate what has been going on, and honestly I haven’t had the desire to figure it out.
