Last week I was having an average day. There was nothing wrong with it, but there was nothing great either. It was election day, so I got to read a bunch of tweets about how I’m a terrible American. I didn’t vote. I hate listening to all the political garbage that is out there. Honestly I forgot it was election day and didn’t know anything about the candidates. Rather than be an uninformed voter, I decided to just sit this one out. [Read more…] about A Little Encouragement Can Go A Long Way

Pink or Blue?
Ever since July 16, Angela and I have looked forward to today. In some ways, it seems like it took no time to get here. In other ways, it seems like it took forever. Today is the day we found out the gender of our baby. Up until today, one of the most popular questions we have been asked is if we were going to find out what the gender was. Our answer was yes. We want to be able to decorate and get things for our baby based on their gender. I am also impatient and wouldn’t want to wait until they were born to find out. [Read more…] about Pink or Blue?
How I Became a Patient Driver
I was driving home from work today on I-40 and there was something that was really annoying me: impatient drivers. There is a stretch of road that I drive home where the right lane ends. It has been that way for as long as I can remember, yet it still causes traffic every morning and afternoon. It really baffles me about why people don’t realize that the lane is ending and just go ahead and merge over. Sure there are some drivers that may be driving that stretch for the first time, but many drive it every day. What I have realized is that it gets backed up every day due to impatient drivers. Shake It Off
When I was in high school I loved to wear pajama pants. They were really comfortable, so I would wear them at least once a week. If you know anything about me, you know I went out and found some of the wackiest pajama pants I could. One day I wore them to school and when I got to football practice my coach said to me, “I didn’t know today was Pajama day.” I replied, “It’s not, I just like them.” The look on his face was priceless. I could clearly see that he did not agree with my decision to wear my green palm tree print pajama pants. [Read more…] about Shake It Off
Getting Focused
I’ve known one of my talents is writing for a long time. I got awards for my poetry in elementary school. Recently, when my mom moved, she found a box with some of my work from when I was in elementary school. In it was a packet of poems I wrote. They were classic. I just spent the last thirty minutes trying to find that packet so I could share one of those poems, but I couldn’t find it. When I do, I’ll update this post and add one in. When I started this blog, I didn’t think the writing would be the hard part. [Read more…] about Getting Focused
The Power of Excuses
Today I worked out for the first time since I was in a wreck. The reason is pretty simple. I have used the wreck as an excuse not to. Sure I needed to take some time and let my body heal, but I didn’t need to wait this long to work out again. I’m not one of those people who loves working out, so I just used the wreck as an excuse to not. Today I had to fight hard against the urge to not work out. There are many things I needed to take care of tonight. I needed to write this blog post. I needed to have a quiet time. I needed to clean up the house a bit. I needed to respond to some emails. Those aren’t bad things to do, but it doesn’t change that I also needed to work out. [Read more…] about The Power of Excuses
