In case you didn’t know, the second round of the 2015 NCAA tournament starts on March 19, 2015. Hopefully NC State will be making their 4th straight trip to the big dance. But why on earth would I write about that now? After all, football season just kicked off this past week (and based on how NC State did I should be super excited about this season)! As much as I love the NCAA tournament and think it may be the greatest post-season in sports (NFL playoffs are a strong contender), that’s not what I want to talk about. What I really want to talk about is this…. [Read more…] about 3.19.15 – Let the March Madness Begin

Stuck in Traditions
Recently I saw a commercial for the Micro Touch One razor. It is a razor with only one blade. One of the selling points they make in the commercial is “professional barbers still only use one blade.” This one makes me laugh because of my experience having a professional barber give me a shave. The week before I got married, I was going to get my hair cut by a barber to make sure it was cut correctly. Normally I cut my hair and I cut it all one length, but for my wedding I decided to have it faded a bit. I decided to find a barber that also offered a shave. My experience getting the shave was fine. The warm shaving cream was nice. He did a good job not giving me any cuts. It wasn’t something I would probably ever pay for again, but I enjoyed it. The Answer to All Your Problems
Conflict is a natural part of life. There isn’t really any way to avoid it. Just take one look at the news and it is about all you will see. There are bombings here, shootings there, conflicts everywhere. You can try if you want, but there is not really a way to avoid conflict. As much as we don’t want to admit it, we are the cause of conflict more often than we probably wish. In my job, I deal with it on a daily basis. Get Out of the Boat
There are a lot of us out there that have dreams. For a lot of us, that is all they are. I recently have been reading through the Gospels and some of the things the disciples to are incredible and make no sense at the same time. I love the story where Peter walks on water. Peter has a dream of something he wants to do and he just goes for it. [Read more…] about Get Out of the Boat
The Blooming of a Seed
This past week, Angela and I received a lot of furniture from her parents. They are in the process of downsizing their house and didn’t have space for all the stuff they had. What started as seeing if we wanted the grill and patio furniture turned into so much more. By the end of the move, we had received way more than we expected. It was a huge blessing that will save us a lot of money in the future. [Read more…] about The Blooming of a Seed
Kicking Fear in the Face
Saturday I competed in my second triathlon. It was still a sprint distance, but slightly longer than my first (this one was a 750 yard swim, 17.5 mile bike, 3.1 mile run). I was determined to not let the same disaster that happened in my first triathlon happen again (to get that story check out this post). I headed to Harris Lake full of confidence. This time around I knew what to expect, and I wasn’t going to let fear get the best of me. [Read more…] about Kicking Fear in the Face
