About a month ago, Angela and I got our puppy, Nala. She is a Jack Russell Terrier, and is pretty much the cutest thing you have ever seen. I got Nala when she was only seven weeks old as an early Christmas present for Angela. One of our first priorities was to teach her that she needed to use the bathroom outside and not in the house. The first night, despite our best efforts to take her out every couple hours, Nala still pooped in her crate. We found out that not only would she go in the crate, but she liked to then play in it. So we would have to let her out, clean the crate, and give her a bath. This was not my favorite thing to do at three in the morning. [Read more…] about The Joys of Potty Training a Puppy
Life
Winter Wonderland
It’s Christmas Eve, and I am pretty excited about Christmas this year. This is my first Christmas being married, and we have decorations up around the house. For the first Christmas since leaving my parents’ house for college, it feels like I am at home. It is really cool to have a tree decorated and stockings hanging over the fire place. I’m not usually one for decorations, but I really like the way our house looks and feels. [Read more…] about Winter Wonderland
The Power of Nicki Manaj
I was at work yesterday and a middle school camper said something that really disturbed me. They said, “Nicki Manaj really speaks to our generation. She is my role model.” I was blown away. Out of all the possibilities for them like their parents, a teacher, a pastor, or a family member, they chose Nicki Manaj as their role model. It makes me sad that our society is currently in that state. A middle schooler feels that Nicki Manaj is a prime example of how she should model her life. I knew that young people are a generation that needed some love, but yesterday really opened my eyes to how bad it is. [Read more…] about The Power of Nicki Manaj
Preparing for the Unexpected
Seven years ago yesterday, I got phone call that I never thought I would have. I was at Charisma Church setting up for our Christmas production of Narnia. I was in charge of lighting and effects, so I had been busy that whole week climbing ladders and hanging lights in our ceiling. In the middle of setting up, I got a call from my mom. I could tell by her voice that this was not going to be a call I wanted to get. She told me that my cousin Chris had been hit by a car while riding his motorcycle and had died. I wasn’t really sure what to think when I heard this. [Read more…] about Preparing for the Unexpected
What Happened to Black Friday?
Tomorrow we embark into the holiday season once again. It is a crazy time of year where we have hectic schedules and try our best not to gain weight (which is next to impossible). It all kicks off with Thanksgiving. Turkey isn’t my favorite meat, but I love the food that comes with Thanksgiving. Then we follow it with Black Friday. I am very disappointed this year that companies have decided to start their sales on Thanksgiving day and ruin the chance for families to spend it together. Angela and I have saved up gift cards for a TV, and we have waited for Black Friday to buy it. [Read more…] about What Happened to Black Friday?
Four More Years
This isn’t late breaking news, but just in case you missed it: President Barack Obama was elected to a second term. I already believe the things people (including myself) will rant about Facebook and Twitter can be a little absurd, but what I saw following the election last Tuesday really made me think. There were people that were super happy. There were people that were mad/aggravated/upset. However, there was one thing I saw in particular that really stood out to me. I saw posts in which people were calling for states to secede from the United States. I’ve read that there are twenty-one states that have people starting petitions for this to happen.
