Now that my father-in-law is retired, he can get back into one of his passions, cooking. He absolutely loves to cook. He will watch cooking shows, read cooking magazines, and search the internet to find the best ways to do things. He is absolutely in love with America’s Test Kitchen. A while ago, he invited us over for wings. The way he prepared the wings was quite the production. First he took them and brined them and covered them in a dry rub. Then he had a process of grilling them for 10 minutes at a time, 7 minutes with the burners on, and 3 minute with the burner off. After 10 minutes he would open the grill lid, flip and repeat.

Let Go
Easter is a time where we remember that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead to set us free from our sins. Acts 13:39 tells us, “and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.” So for Easter we think on that, take family pictures in our cute Easter outfits, hunt for eggs and eat chocolate bunnies.

The other day, I was sitting on the couch and Zeke came running from the other side of the room with something he wanted to show me. On his way to me he stubbed his toe on the ottoman and hurt himself. After I consoled him, I reminded him that was why we have a rule to not run in the house. The rule isn’t so he doesn’t have fun. A couple of weeks ago, I was in a production called Duty. It was a Show n Tell Ministries production and told the story of 8 guys from Garner that gave their lives serving in the Vietnam war. It was truly humbling to be a part of the production and to honor the veterans that had served in the war. It was a really cool production because I feel like it not only made an impact on those that watched, but also the cast and crew.

When I was in high school, I spent the night a a friend’s house. In the middle of the night we snuck out of his house. We were drinking, smoking, and doing stupid stuff (like all that dumb stuff you see people on your neighborhood Facebook complain about). A few hours later, we walked in the door and his dad was sitting on the stairs just inside the door. I’m pretty sure my mouth hit the floor and I turned as white as a ghost. We were busted. All the evidence was in the backpack we were wearing. There was nothing we could do to lie about where we were or what we had done.
