One of the things I love about Christmas is the traditions surrounding Christmastime. Our family has a few Christmas traditions, but this year we decided to start a new one. This Christmas, Angela and I decided the kids were old enough to start the tradition of an advent wreath and going through daily devotions with them. It is something I haven’t done since I was a kid. Angela made a wreath and we do daily devotions around the dinner table. [Read more…] about Season of Advent: Hope

Worship in Sweden
A few weeks ago, I went on a trip with TV One Life to Norway and Sweden. We were able to do a lot of really fun ministry working with the TV networks, but there was one thing we did that really stands out in my mind. We had an opportunity to work with an Arabic Christian church. Most of the people in the church were refugees from the Middle East. Going into the trip we did not know we would be working with this church so it was an unexpected experience.
Let God Grow
Each spring, I plant mint in a pot on my patio table. I love the taste of mint and it is also supposed to help keep mosquitos away. This past summer, when we went on vacation, I forgot to ask a neighbor to water my mint plant. When I got home, the plant looked pathetic. All the growth was withered and it didn’t look like there was much hope of the plant surviving. I decided to cut away all the dead leaves and stems and water the small amount of the plant that was left. It was my last-ditch effort to keep the plant alive. A few weeks later, I was shocked to see my mint plant alive and thriving. It had grown bigger than it was before I went on vacation! [Read more…] about Let God Grow
TV One Life Goes to Scandinavia
In less than a week, I’ll embark on a journey that will take me to Europe for the first time. House Church has produced a TV show (TV One Life) for years, and we are on a network in Norway and Sweden. They have invited us to come and do live TV events and events in churches that they work with. The reality that I am going on this trip has not yet completely set in, and I’m sure it won’t until it is unfolding. It’s an incredible opportunity to share the gospel with thousands of people in just over a week. [Read more…] about TV One Life Goes to Scandinavia
Turning People Into Numbers
A few weeks ago, I was in Target picking up a few things when a stranger approached me and started a conversation saying, “I like your shirt.” “Thanks,” I replied and hoped that was the end of it. It had been a long day and work and I was ready to get home. “Where did you get it,” he continued. Giving him the benefit of the doubt that he was genuinely interested in my shirt I told him. A minute later he was asking if he could tell me about an amazing company he was a part of. I let him know I wasn’t interested and walked away. I wasn’t shopping for any multi-level marketing companies that day. [Read more…] about Turning People Into Numbers
A Kind Word
A few months ago, the DMV decided to mark my driver’s license as inactive. The DMV didn’t notify me that it happened. I found out by getting a letter from my insurance company saying they were going to cancel my plan because my license was inactive. I called them to find out what they knew about it, and I was told to check with the DMV. Naturally, I was thrilled upon hearing that I needed to go to the DMV to clear it up.
