Every time a major holiday approaches I always debate whether to write a post based on the theme of that holiday. Do I write a post about being thankful around Thanksgiving? Do I write a post about freedom around Independence Day? Do I write a post about Jesus being our savior around Christmas? You may have noticed that typically the answer I come up with is no. It feels a little to cliché to me. So here I am on Christmas Eve debating what to write about. [Read more…] about Christmas Card
Music
1989
There is something about me that most guys would be afraid to say. I think it is time I just come clean and admit it. There is no shame in my game. I like Taylor Swift’s music. There I said it. It’s out in the open. That’s a huge weight of my chest. Some of you may be judging me, but you just need to go ahead and admit that the catchy tune of “Shake It Off” gets stuck in your head every time you hear it. You can act all big and bad, but deep down there is some part of you that enjoys it. [Read more…] about 1989
Shake It Off
When I was in high school I loved to wear pajama pants. They were really comfortable, so I would wear them at least once a week. If you know anything about me, you know I went out and found some of the wackiest pajama pants I could. One day I wore them to school and when I got to football practice my coach said to me, “I didn’t know today was Pajama day.” I replied, “It’s not, I just like them.” The look on his face was priceless. Be an Anomaly
A couple of weeks ago Lecrae released a new album Anomaly. In my life I have been challenged by books I have read. I have been challenged by speakers I have heard. I’ve been challenged by people in my life. With Lecrae’s album Anomaly I can now say I have been challenge by an album. One listen through the Anomaly and you will notice that Lecrae put it all out there on the album. His lyrics are so raw, transparent and honest. He holds nothing back and speaks his mind. It is refreshing and challenging at the same time. I can’t be the only one who thinks so because Anomaly hit #1 on the Billboard 200. [Read more…] about Be an Anomaly
The Answer to All Your Problems
Conflict is a natural part of life. There isn’t really any way to avoid it. Just take one look at the news and it is about all you will see. There are bombings here, shootings there, conflicts everywhere. You can try if you want, but there is not really a way to avoid conflict. As much as we don’t want to admit it, we are the cause of conflict more often than we probably wish. In my job, I deal with it on a daily basis. When kids are running around all day playing games you will inevitably get conflict. In all the conflict I’ve dealt with in my life, I’ve found that there is one thing that solves it every time. Worship Band Perspective
I’ve seen a lot of blog post or post on social media about what people think about praise and worship in church. There are the debates on what is weird and what is acceptable. Well I am here to offer a different perspective, the one of the band member. Some people think it is awkward to be a part of the congregation, and I would say it can be just as awkward to be a part of the band. I’ve played worship at some churches where people just stood there and stared at you. [Read more…] about Worship Band Perspective
