For those of you struggling to keep track of days right now, it is Friday. This pandemic is lasting longer than any of us anticipated (and this won’t be a place to argue why) and it is taking its toll on all of us. As always, I don’t want to make light of a serious situation, but I do want to show some of the rays of sun that I am seeing in the storm. Here are my recommendations for this week.
Disc Golf
I used to play a lot of disc golf. So much that I owned my own basket. I was never really good but I really enjoyed playing. Over the past few years I haven’t been able to play much (you know because kids and stuff). Recently a group of people at my church have started playing pretty regularly and it has been a lot of fun to get back into it. When our options of what we can do are pretty limited, it is nice to have a fun outdoor activity to do. If you are local and want to play let me know!
Pop Punk
I am a sucker for pop punk. Recently all these bands that haven’t released music in years are starting to release new music. A couple of pop punk bands are making a comeback and I am excited about it. New Found Glory just released a new album (they haven’t really stopped releasing new music) that is very good. Slick Shoes also just announced a new album (they haven’t released music in a long time) and dropped a new single. Hopefully more pop punk bands will follow suit.
Summer Camp
I am a camp director. I love summer camp but it is exhausting at the same time. Add in all the restrictions and guidelines we have to follow this summer and my brain is about ready to shut down this summer. But it has been incredibly refreshing to see campers having fun in spite of all the changes. Even with social distancing and masks the campers are having an amazing time. To see them be able to forget about everything else going on around them for a few hours each day is very rewarding.
That’s it for my recommendations this time around. Stay safe and check back next week for a new post!
until next time…
