There are a lot of us out there that have dreams. For a lot of us, that is all they are. I recently have been reading through the Gospels and some of the things the disciples to are incredible and make no sense at the same time. I love the story where Peter walks on water. Peter has a dream of something he wants to do and he just goes for it.
Peter and the disciples are chilling on a boat in the middle of the night when all the sudden Jesus approaches them walking on the water. After Jesus announces himself, Peter says, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water,” (Matthew 14:28). Why??? I’m not sure why that would be Peter’s response but Jesus tells him to come join Him. I guess Peter clearly had a vision of where he wanted to go.
So what happens next? Peter goes for it. “Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus,” (Matthew 14:29 NASB). There was no hesitation, no second guessing, he just went for it. Peter had to know that there was no way he could walk on water in his own ability, but if Jesus said “come,” he was going to get out of the boat and go.
So many of us are cruising along in our boats with our dreams. We are waiting for things to line up or everything to seem perfect. If it doesn’t make perfect sense then we are scared to take a step. The truth is that Jesus said to come. To stand up, get out of the boat, and go. What are you waiting for?
until next time…
