May is one of the craziest months of the year for me. Being a summer camp director, this is when all the preparation hits full force. Staff training starts and takes up at least 2 nights a week. With all the other things added on, life and the other parts of my job never seem to slow down to compensate. During May it is easy to get hyper focused on all the tasks that need to get done. Have I replied to all the emails? Are my trainings ready? Is the PowerPoint ready? Have all the new staff completed their new-hire paperwork? It is so easy to get focused on those things that I miss all the other awesome stuff going on around me. A couple of weeks ago, I took the following picture. I love looking at it, and pictures of nature like it because it reminds me that sometimes I need to slow down and check out the beauty that is around me. Life is crazy, but I don’t need to get so wrapped up in it that I miss out on these kinds of things.
This May I am going to take some time to enjoy life outside of the crazy. There may be a million different directions I am getting pulled, but I am going to make sure that there are some times that I press pause and just take a minute to breathe and catch a glimpse of the view. Life probably won’t ever slow down, but the pace at which I follow it can.
