Babies Are Expensive

April 16, 2015

In case you didn’t know this, babies are expensive (especially your first one).  There is so much stuff you have to get.  There are hospital bills.  There is the cost for adding them to your insurance.  There is a ton of stuff that you need once they are here.  When you think about it, it is easy to freak out.  Angela and I have a goal for her not to return to work full-time.  Thinking about this and crunching numbers in my head, I have immediately been overwhelmed. The Wait Is Over

March 25, 2015

This morning, Angela and I started off her birthday like any couple would, with an OBGYN appointment.  With Zeke still chilling inside Angela, the docs needed to check up on everything and make sure everyone was doing OK.  We have joked that we found out about him on my birthday and she could deliver him on hers.  They did an ultrasound and everything was looking good.  Heartbeat was strong and everything was where it is supposed to be.  After that we went to another room where they hooked Angela up to some monitors to further check his heartbeat and see if she was having any contractions.  While she was hooked up to that the doc came in and asked us if we knew about the weight of the baby.  We didn’t.  The people doing the ultrasound hadn’t told us (and we didn’t know to ask).  Our doctor joked about people like surprises when it comes to babies, but we told him we weren’t trying to be surprised. I’m An Awesome Dad

March 13, 2015

We are officially one week away from the day doctors predicted Zeke will join us in the world.  We will see if his clock is aligned with the doctor’s.  One thing that I was reminded of this week is that I’ll be able to binge watch the NCAA tournament.  Easily the best basketball of the year, so I am very happy I’ll get to watch a ton of it.  It is a little weird to think that the due date is only a week from now.  I feel like the moment should feel a lot more real than it does.  Any day now I’ll have a little dude that is eating, pooping and sleeping a lot. Am I Ready To Be A Dad?

February 26, 2015

I hate interviews with sports players.  The reporters ask the worst questions.

Q:  What does your team need to do to win the game?
A:  We need to score more points than the other team.

Q:  What did you guys do to win the game?
A:  We scored more than the other team.

Q:  Why did you guys lose?
A:  We didn’t score as many points as the other team.

Q:  What is your strategy for the game?
A:  To score points and win. [Read more…] about Am I Ready To Be A Dad?

Picture of the Week – 2/24/15

February 24, 2015

This week’s POTW bring us the first ever picture of Iron Man.  By far one of the coolest and happiest moments of my life.  It is crazy to think that in just over 3 weeks Zeke is supposed to be here (more on this later this week).  The past 8 months have been a roller coaster.  The #1 question I get asked now is am I ready.  Right now since it is currently snowing and making driving conditions unsafe I would like him to stay put for a bit longer.   Make sure you stay tuned though because later this week I will tackle this question. Moving At The Speed Of Life

November 16, 2014

Life is happening super fast right now.  As I’m sure most of you are aware, my baby boy will be born next March.  Angela and I went and registered for a bunch of stuff a couple of weeks ago.  That is overwhelming.  There are so many choices and so many things you need.  I mean there are like 5 million kinds of pacifiers.  You don’t want to pick the wrong one and mess your kid up for life.  Since having a kid wasn’t enough, Angela and I signed a contract on a house about a week and half ago.  We close on the house on November 26, which is 20 days after we signed the contract.  It’s my first time buying a house, but I’ve been told that is a super short time frame to close on a house.
