Christmas is upon us once again. 2019 has been an interesting year. We’ve seen some ups and downs and everything in the middle. It seems like our new Christmas card tradition will be to have a new pose every year. When Zeke was 1, Angela captured a candid moment of Zeke, leaning on the couch arm, in awe of our Christmas tree. We decided that would be the pose for our picture every year, but that changed when we moved and the couch was no longer next to the tree. So last year, we got a new pose and thought that would be the one for years to come. This year we downsized our tree and the pose didn’t work because we couldn’t frame it without the buffet or cabinets in it. So with all our #firstworldproblems explained, we present our 2019 Christmas card.

2018 Christmas Card
Here we are again. I can’t believe it is already Christmas. With that it’s time for the yearly update (that will probably not bring much new news thanks to social media). We moved in March, and our tree’s location at our new house did not allow us to continue our “Christmas card pose.” We did move the couch and attempt to get it, but couldn’t get the camera angle for it because of the island in our kitchen. So here is the new look for 2018:

Christmas is a time to remember and be thankful that Jesus came to the earth to die for our sins. It’s a time to reflect on what Jesus did for us. This year God has reminded me of another important part of the Christmas story- I am completely unworthy of what He did. I am a mess and a sinner, and in spite of all that Jesus still came to the earth. I was, and still am, so undeserving of that gift. [Read more…] about The Never Ending Story
Season of Advent: Hope
One of the things I love about Christmas is the traditions surrounding Christmastime. Our family has a few Christmas traditions, but this year we decided to start a new one. Angela made a wreath and we do daily devotions around the dinner table. [Read more…] about Season of Advent: Hope
These Are Not My Children
Today’s post is a guest post by Angela. You can look forward to seeing a post from her once a month.
Our church is doing a bible reading plan and one day we were reading Luke 2. The Christmas story. I have read this passage countless times- almost exclusively in December. But this time a rather odd passage stuck out to me. Verses 21-24 say, “Eight days later, when the baby was circumcised, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel even before he was conceived. Then it was time for their purification offering, as required by the law of Moses after the birth of a child; so his parents took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. The law of the Lord says, “If a woman’s first child is a boy, he must be dedicated to the Lord.” So they offered the sacrifice required in the law of the Lord— either a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.” [Read more…] about These Are Not My Children
2017 Christmas Card
It’s hard to believe that 2017 is almost over. It has been quite the journey. This Christmas we have continued some traditions and started others. Last year’s picture still remains one of our favorites of Zeke and because of that we have turned it into a tradition. With that, I present our 2017 Christmas card.
