Striving For Perfection

August 30, 2012

shattered pottery

Over the past month I have done a lot of soul searching.  I have had many conversations with God about where exactly I am heading.  A lot of it has led me to one conclusion; I am broken.  I am busted up and falling apart and in need of some help.  Last week I was reading something and someone made an interesting claim.  They claimed to be perfect.  They said because they had accepted Jesus they had become perfect.  Even more than that, they made the claim many times.  It wasn’t just a wording mistake, they really believed it. Just A Normal Day At Camp

July 11, 2012

Today when I got to work I had a lot of things on my mind.  We are really short staffed this week and it has been hectic.  At some point during the day I was supposed to get a call from a mom who had some concerns.  It was starting to rain and weather reports were saying it would stay that way all day, so I had to start coming up with a plan for what to do if that happened.  It wasn’t shaping up to be an ideal morning. Following Our Founding Fathers

July 4, 2012

I received a text yesterday that said, “I know the Bible says that we are free from sin, but sometimes I wonder.  I think I am incapable of resisting *insert sin here*.”  The Bible verse they are referencing is John 8:31-32,36, “Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.  36So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”  Jesus died on the cross to set us free from our sins, so those that follow Him are free from that bondage.  Yet sin is a constant struggle in our lives. Swimming with Sharks

Swimming with Sharks

I’ve been watching a lot of the TV show Shark Tank recently.  On the show, people bring business ideas in front of investors and try to strike a deal.  It is entertaining seeing the different business ideas and products people have.  Just today I saw an episode where a guy pitched a company called Rent-a-grandma.  I’m sure you aren’t sold on the idea by the name, and the sharks weren’t sold on the pitch.  Even more than the pitches, I love hearing the sharks debate about it. But Thanksgiving is in November…

June 19, 2012

It seems like just yesterday I was wondering how camp was going to get set up, and now it seems like camp is flying by.  We are already in the middle of week 2 of 8 and there are no signs of it slowing down.  I am once again rediscovering why summer is my favorite part of the year. The Start of Something Great

June 6, 2012

Summer camp starts next Monday.  For me, this year will be a little bit different from previous years.  I’ve spent the last nine months helping create a camp from scratch.  This will be the first summer of Camp Trinity’s existence.  It has been an incredible journey that will become very real on Monday.  A lot of blood, sweat, and tears has gone into making this camp a reality.
