Yesterday afternoon at after school we got caught in the middle of a big thunderstorm. As if having a big storm with loud thunder wasn’t creating enough chaos for kindergarteners on their first week of after school, the roof in the cafeteria started leaking. And by leaking I actually mean pouring. I have never seen a ceiling leak so bad, it was leaking as fast and heavy as the rain was falling outside. So there we were caught in the middle trying to calm down 50 kids and keep everything organized in the small cafeteria. [Read more…] about Introduce a Little Anarchy

Striving For Perfection
Over the past month I have done a lot of soul searching. I have had many conversations with God about where exactly I am heading. A lot of it has led me to one conclusion; I am broken. I am busted up and falling apart and in need of some help. Last week I was reading something and someone made an interesting claim. They claimed to be perfect. They said because they had accepted Jesus they had become perfect. Even more than that, they made the claim many times. It wasn’t just a wording mistake, they really believed it. Just A Normal Day At Camp
Today when I got to work I had a lot of things on my mind. We are really short staffed this week and it has been hectic. At some point during the day I was supposed to get a call from a mom who had some concerns. It was starting to rain and weather reports were saying it would stay that way all day, so I had to start coming up with a plan for what to do if that happened. Following Our Founding Fathers
I received a text yesterday that said, “I know the Bible says that we are free from sin, but sometimes I wonder. I think I am incapable of resisting *insert sin here*.” The Bible verse they are referencing is John 8:31-32,36, “Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. 36So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” Jesus died on the cross to set us free from our sins, so those that follow Him are free from that bondage. Yet sin is a constant struggle in our lives. [Read more…] about Following Our Founding Fathers
Swimming with Sharks
I’ve been watching a lot of the TV show Shark Tank recently. On the show, people bring business ideas in front of investors and try to strike a deal. It is entertaining seeing the different business ideas and products people have. Just today I saw an episode where a guy pitched a company called Rent-a-grandma. I’m sure you aren’t sold on the idea by the name, and the sharks weren’t sold on the pitch. Even more than the pitches, I love hearing the sharks debate about it. But Thanksgiving is in November…
It seems like just yesterday I was wondering how camp was going to get set up, and now it seems like camp is flying by. We are already in the middle of week 2 of 8 and there are no signs of it slowing down. I am once again rediscovering why summer is my favorite part of the year.
