Maybe you are hoping that this blog post will have something to do with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Unfortunately that is not the case, however I can give a pretty mean People’s Eyebrow. Not really though, but that would be pretty awesome.
Yesterday I was at a meeting for work and someone said something that stuck with me. They said, “You can’t serve what you aren’t already cooking.” This stuck with me because it you can apply in so many ways. I talk about dreams and visions a lot because I’m a big dreamer. If you want something to happen you have to start taking steps.
We were talking about it in the context of having a full facility with a gym at the YMCA. It would be foolish of us expect to build one and people to come if we haven’t already started offering fitness programs. The same goes for anyone else. If you want to start a business but haven’t started making product it would be foolish to believe you will grow. If you want to be a public speaker but haven’t read any books on the subject it would be foolish to think people will listen. If you want to be a writer but aren’t writing it would be foolish to think people will read your stuff.
If you want people to come to the table you have to start cooking something to serve them. Don’t leave people hungry and have them go somewhere else. Everyone needs to eat, so the question is who will feed them?
until next time…
