A few weeks ago, we ended our first night of summer day camp staff training with a devotion using a Kid President video. In fact, this video inspired our overall theme for the three weeks of training we do to prepare for camp. Before I go any further, check out the video. Even if you have watched it before, I think it is worth watching again.
I love the part where he says, “And you, you’re awesome. You’re made that way.” That was our theme for camp training. You were made to be awesome. How cool is that to think about? Kid President goes on to talk about how we will mess up, but that’s OK. Even though we are not perfect we were still made to be awesome. Some days are going to be great. Some days are going to be tough. Even on the tough days we are awesome.
How do we know we were made to be awesome? Kid President tell us, “You were made from love, to be love, to spread love.” My mind was blown the first time I heard that line. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” God is awesome and we were created in His image. Put two and two together and you get awesome.
I’m not sure what you are going through now. Things might be great and you feel like you are on top of the world. Things might be rough and you feel like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. Maybe you are somewhere in the middle. No matter where you are I want you to remember one simple thing. Kid President said it better than I would have, so I won’t try to make it any better.
“You’re awake. You’re awesome. Live like it!”
until next time…
