One of the things that has had the greatest impact on my life has been to go on mission trips. For the past few summers I have been unable to go and it was tough to see the team go from my church and not be leaving with them. Now that I am a teacher and have summers off, I am excited to be able to go on this year’s trip to Nicaragua. The trip is from July 18 – August 3. [Read more…] about Mission Trip To Nicaragua

Calming The Storms Of Life
People like to say that nothing in life is guaranteed. While I understand what they are trying to say, I don’t agree. There are some things in life that are guaranteed. One of those things is that storms will come. There will be times that try to test us. Jesus, when talking about building your life on a strong foundation, says in Matthew 7:27, “When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” The rains and floods are coming. Mystery Can Be Just As Important As Revelation
I think we have all had a moment in our life that we asked God why. Why did this happen to me? Why did this happen to them? Why do you want me to do that? There is a lot of mystery in the things God has called us to do. The summer heading into my senior year of high school, God gave me one of these moments.
That summer, I worked as a camp counselor at a Christian camp called Teen Valley Ranch on summer. At the beginning of the summer I had no plans on doing so, in fact I had not even applied. One week my youth pastor was going to speak, and my best friend was working there, so I decided to go up for a week for fun. The next week our youth group was going up, so I stayed for the weekend and then the next week with the youth group. Since I was a little older, they asked me if I wanted to be the junior counselor for the week with my youth group. I jumped on the opportunity and had such a fun week. The Power Of Prayer
Everyone knows that if you want to be a good Christian there are 3 things you have to do: read the Bible, worship, and pray. While there is a lot of sarcasm in that last sentence, those things are important to having a relationship with God. The worship part is the easiest for me. I listen to worship music a lot (I am as I write this) and love worshiping at church. Reading the Bible would be number 2. I am still trying to get better about reading it every day but I do it on a pretty regular basis. Prayer would definitely be at the bottom for me. It is by far the toughest of the 3. I have a short attention span and that does not help when it comes to prayer. [Read more…] about The Power Of Prayer
Periscope: From Fear To Faith
Last September I wrote about how I was going to tackle my fear of Periscope. I knew I needed to be using Periscope more and I figured if I wrote a blog post about how I was going to it would force my hand. Seemed like a pretty foolproof plan. Except it wasn’t. I maybe did one or two scopes after that post and then went back away from it. I continued to let the fear be in my life. I continued to walk in my insecurities. Every week I would meet with my Mastermind group and they would tell me I was making a mistake and I would usually say something that started with, “Yeah, but…” [Read more…] about Periscope: From Fear To Faith
My Worship Song Go-To’s
I’ve written before about the power of worship (you can check it out HERE). When we worship and get into the presence of God there is freedom. When we are confused and feel lost, we can enter into God’s presence and he can remove the fog. Last night I spoke on Periscope (if you don’t follow me already, click on the periscope icon to the right and follow me) in more detail about this. You can catch the replay HERE.
